Why We Make Ourselves Wrong For What We Want (& What to Do About It)

Do you feel like you don’t know what you really want in life?

I know how it feels, in fact, one of the most frustrating moments of my life was when I was in high school and I felt the pressure of needing to know what I was going to do for the rest of my life coming up…

I had no clue what I wanted to be…

I could be a cop, I could be a teacher, a doctor (but I definitely didn’t feel smart enough to do that)…

I didn’t want to do any of them, I started to get really upset.

I remember running to my mom crying my eyes out, so frustrated. I didn’t know what I wanted to do…

What I ended up discovering was that I actually knew what I wanted to do…

but the framework I was thinking form only allowed the “reasonable” professions to enter my realm of consciousness.

when I finally realized that I could do what I love and get paid to do it, I knew exactly what’s I wanted to do!

i wanted to get paid to help people improve their lives!

Many people struggle with admitting what they actually want in life because they make themselves wrong for it.

I got a message today from a woman who asked me if it’s okay to want to be in a relationship with someone who would treat her well.

Why do we make ourselves so wrong for what we really want?

I believe there are a few reasons.

I think it’s easier to make ourselves wrong for what we want (in the short term) because we are actually afraid of what might happen if we spend years going after our dreams but they don’t end up coming true.

So we bullshit ourselves and make ourselves wrong for what we want, killing any motivation or excitement that comes with it.

This is why waking up dreams in people is one of my all time favorite things to do.

We aren’t really living if we aren’t going after a dream!

As soon as a dream is woken up, inspiration, motivation and an enthusiasm about life follows!

So give yourself full permission to go after your dreams and what you want.

There’s nothing wrong with what you want…

In fact, there’s so much right about it!

That dream was planted in your mind for a reason and that reason is for you to go after it, not to judge it!

So what are you waiting for…

What is Your Dream? – The Unstoppable Mindset Ep. 1

Welcome to Episode 1 of The Unstoppable Mindset Podcast!

This is episode is about creating an unstoppable mindset, a mindset where fear and self doubt no longer hold you back.

This is one of the many offerings that I share with the world so you can create an absolutely limitless mindset and a truly limitless life.

The purpose of this podcast is really based on my mission. My mission is for every single person to live their dream, to go after what they love, and to feel unstoppable and confident in the process.

I want to let you know that it’s okay if you don’t have it right now.

It’s okay if you don’t have your dream yet. It’s okay if you’re facing challenges.

It’s okay if you’re struggling on the journey of making it happen.

If you are finding yourself in that place, welcome to the club.

We’ve all been there, and it’s a very normal place to be on this extraordinary journey that we call life.

A lot of the struggle and challenges that you’re facing don’t need to be there.

We tend to face a lot more challenges than necessary because let’s face it, when it comes to success, we’re not really set up to win in a really big way.

When we go to school, our teachers aren’t teaching us about the main focus of this podcast which is for you to gain the tools to create the most out of life every single day.

My intention is that I share with you that will unlock a special kind of magic in your day that you wouldn’t experience otherwise.

I’ll be sharing powerful tools with you, mindset hacks that allow you to see new possibilities for greatness and extraordinary things that you can accomplish in your life and most importantly for you to truly make the most out of life.

As far as I know, we have this one life and every single moment is an opportunity to live, and there’s a difference between surviving and living. Surviving is living to survive. It’s really just going through the motions, making just enough money to pay the bills, just enough to eat… just enough.

And then there’s LIVING.

Everyone has a life, but few people really live and living is about making the most out of every single moment. Living in the present moment, enjoying life, going on adventures, connecting with your dreams, allowing them to inspire you every single day and becoming the best version of yourself in the process.

That’s what living is by my definition. It’s sucking the juice out of every single moment of your life, every single day because our life is made up of many days and those days add up into the sum of our life.

We filter life through our mindset (our beliefs).

My intention is to share the powerful mindset tools that I have because when you shift your beliefs into a place of abundance and to a place of empowerment, into a place of unstoppable it has a ripple effect on every single area of your life because you bring yourself to your relationships.

You bring yourself to your career. You bring yourself to every single day. You bring yourself to your life. I mean that’s the defining factor of the quality of your life.

Of course there are the things that happen to you and then there’s how you respond, and having a powerful mindset means that you have the ability to respond and transform any experience that life throws at you into value and into something greater, so that’s what having an unstoppable mindset is all about, and I want to make this first episode about the most important thing which is your life.

The life you’re living right now, and the life that is waiting for you in the future. I truly believe that your future is a blank canvas. It’s empty canvas waiting to be painted upon, and of course the more colors you have, the more tools you have for little tricks that you can do with that canvas, the more beautiful this masterpiece of your future can be.

And so if we have a blank canvas, why wait to see what life’s going to throw at us? Why not pick up the paintbrush and paint a masterpiece?

Painting that masterpiece begins in the mind’s eye.

There’s something that I ask people all the time, I ask waitresses this, I ask waiters this, I ask strangers this. I ask myself this every single day. It’s a question that really defined in determines our future if we follow it.

The question is, what is your dream?

What is your dream?

In this day and age, when we hear that question we think “that sounds cheesy”, or “I haven’t thought about my dream in a really long time” or “who cares what my dream is?, I’m just trying to get a raise” A dream is what life could be. It’s what your life could be.

It’s what’s possible for you, and a lot of people are afraid to acknowledge their dreams because they’re more focused on, well, what happens if I go for it and I fail? And instead of facing the pain of that, they would rather be where they are and just stay mediocre. My definition of mediocrity is just the same thing over and over and over again, which is how many people live.

We only have this one life, so why not dream?

Why not dream big?

Why not dream huge?

Let’s take this opportunity right now to dream huge, to dream big.

If anything were possible for you, what kind of a life would you live if you were guaranteed for success? What would you accomplish? If money weren’t a limiting factor? If it wasn’t an issue, if it didn’t matter, what would you do? How would you live? If it was impossible for you to fail, how big would you succeed? Really think these questions through and allow yourself to imagine what is a 10/10 life look like to you? What does a 10/10 life look like in your relationships? The best possible? What kind of energy is there? Imagine the love, the connection, the passion, the spontaneity, the excitement. What about 10 out of 10 health? Imagine what it would feel like to be fully energized every single day… Being in alignment with your best habits, meditating consistently, working out, moving, doing exercise that you love, feeling great about your body. What about a 10 out of 10 business or career?

10 out of 10 in following your calling, living your purpose, I imagine what that would feel like and be like, or if you’re religious, a 10 out of 10 relationship with your creator?

A 10 out of 10 relationship with life? What about 10 out of 10 confidence or 10 at a 10 self esteem? Imagine what that would be like! A 10 out of 10 mindset? Now you live at 10 out of 10 life. That’s a well lived life, but now I want to ask you another question… What would a 100 out of 10 life look like for you?

Be like for you, feel like for you? Think that through… What is 100 out of 10 in every area of your life. That’s what I call abundance, and that’s what we’re going for here. It’s not only going past what you know is possible, but after you accomplish that, after you have everything you want, what is beyond that? What is in the area of your life that you don’t even know exists yet, and how can your life be so amazing and it surprises you and blows you away by the magic, the miracles, the fulfillment, that you experienced on a daily basis?

And a really powerful exercise that I got from one of my mentors, Lewis Howes, he gave me this assignment in one of his programs, (incredible human being, huge inspiration to me) It’s called the perfect day design, right? He, he, he said in the video, write out your perfect day. And so I wrote out my perfect day and I was single at the time. I wasn’t in a relationship. I had a goal of making $3,000 a month. That seemed like a big goal for me. And it was either 6,000 or 3,000 or 6,000, I think it was three. I was only making a few hundred dollars, a few hundred dollars at the time. And I remember writing that my dream day is to wake up next to the love of my life and to grab some tea and to wake up to the sound of ocean. And to look out at a beautiful view, and I remember about a year back, I paid for this trip through my business, I took my girlfriend to Maui for her birthday as a birthday gift, and I wake up in the morning and I look out and I see ocean and I wake up next to the love of my life and it hit me.

I’m like, Whoa, I’m living my perfect day, and I blew that goal of $3000 a month out of the water! In fact, I made more than that just on that trip alone from business that was rolling in. So my point in sharing this with you is when you define your vision, you give yourself an opportunity to live it, and give yourself that opportunity. Give yourself that opportunity.

It’s much better to give yourself the shot of doing it and going for it and living in having an amazing life than never giving yourself that shot to begin with and shutting the possibility down. I believe that it’s important to connect with your vision. I share this with my clients. It’s important to connect with your vision every single day and let it inspire you and base the actions that you take throughout your day in alignment with manifesting and creating that vision, and I can’t tell you how many, countless times I’ve had clients message me, people working with me message me and say, holy crap, Ryan, this vision that I declared to you, I’m living it! I can’t believe how fast it’s manifested right in front of my face! So give yourself that opportunity, dream big, stretch the limits of your imagination. Its worth it and do whatever it takes to turn that dream into your reality.

Winning The Inner Game of Abundance

When most people think about the word Abundance, they think about money, financial freedom, and material objects.

Yes, this is how abundance can show up on the outside but the inner game of abundance is a much richer, more fulfilling game to play.

Abundance is a way of living life, it’s a mindset.

Abundance is an attitude of gratitude, and gratitude is much more than just seeing the glass half full.

Living in gratitude is living a life where you are counting your blessings moment by moment.

Where you grow through the compounding interest of appreciation vs. constantly filling what’s missing in your life.

Abundance isn’t just about having enough in life, it’s about having more than enough and to have more than enough, you must first be willing to see just how generous the universe has been with you.

You see, we come into this life with nothing and we leave with nothing – therefore everything in your life is a magnificent gift that has been given to you (if you decide to see it that way).

We have a choice over how we see things in life.

In fact, one of things we have the most control over is our interpretations of life.

Life is neutral – we create the meaning.

We can create a scarce meaning, or an abundant meaning.

Let’s say its raining outside.

You can choose to view it as “well it’s a shitty day outside”

Or you can choose to dance in the rain and feel the cool, refreshing water wash down your face.

Remember when you were little?

When there were thunderstorms you were fascinated, intrigued by them!

They were an exciting event!

Now when there’s a thunderstorm we think “Oh my gosh, I hope the power goes out! I hope there isn’t a tornado!”

This is scarcity thinking.

If you want to live an abundant life, it must start with changing your way of thinking.

Everything is a gift.

When you focus on what you have, what you have grows.

When you count your blessings, your blessings will multiply.

What you appreciate, appreciates.

There are many ways to say this.

Gratitude isn’t only about writing a list of 10 things you’re grateful for…

That’s a great start.

True gratitude is about living in a state of gratitude, living in a state of active appreciation, being grateful vs. doing gratitude.

When you eat, think about where the food came from.

The hard work that went into getting it on your plate.

The money you worked hard for to purchase this meal.

Savor every bite you take.

Be present with your meal.

Give thanks to the salmon for giving up its life so you could be nourished.

For the clean water that you have.

You can walk a few steps to your kitchen, turn on the faucet, and clean water comes out.

Some people have to walk miles just to get a days worth of water with no guarantee of it being clean.

You are truly blessed in countless ways.

Give thanks to your body for taking care of you.

To your immune system for being strong enough to keep you alive.

To your heart for beating strong in your chest day after day, and working even when you’re sleeping.

The fact is, if you’re reading this, the universe has provided in you in so many ways.

Give thanks and the universe will happily give you more.

Take it for granted, and you will miss out on the greatest gifts that life has to offer.

Over the next 24 hours, count all of the blessings that you usually take for granted.

Express your appreciation to the people in your life that matter most to you.

Be present and deeply appreciate what you normally rush through.

This simply shift will allow you to experience radical change in your every day life without your external life changing at all.
